Soba restaurant

This little soba restaurant in Chikura (buckwheat noodles) was delicious. Outside the window next to our table was a little pond with turtles swimming around.

Chikura

Are we there yet?

The beach was a little to windy so grandpa got this small pool for Taka to cool off in.

Last week we drove to Chikura and stayed for a few days. It's a small town near the sea. Driving from Tokyo we drive under the sea in a tunnel for part of the way. In the middle of this tunnel is Umi-hotaru which means ocean firefly. From here there is a beautiful view of the ocean and of the Tokyo city skyline9at night). There is 4 stories or so of souvineer shops, places to eat and even a starbucks and a child's play area.

Takahiro is admiring the view with a group of other boys.

Please don't pick the flowers....

There were a lot of samples to try at the market. Taka is trying the octopus.

Taka and daddy are checking out the live eel in the tank.

Below, Taka enjoys a kid meal of rice, curry, edamame (soybeans) and karage (fried chicken) at Gust, a family restaurant
